Knight Precision Moulding has increased its machine stock and capacity in order to meet an ever-increasing level of demand from customers. Key among the upgrades is the addition of a 485 tonne Sandretto press (compared to a previous maximum of 350 tonne) enabling the high quality plastic injection moulding company to handle even larger jobs.
Knight has also acquired a further two Shini granulators in addition to the ten already on site, allowing all scrap and sprues to be granulated at the press. This enables Knight to handle all waste material in-house, in a closed loop system that results in zero wastage.
“Even though the media is still pretty negative, we’re seeing definite signs of recovery this year and our customers are giving similar reports,” states Knight MD Tim Wegener. “That’s why we’ve decided to invest further in our machine list, ensuring not only that we have the capacity to meet any customer requirement, but also that our dedication to recycling is rigorous, efficient and cost-effective. We’re proud to say that we’re now recycling at 100%, and have installed 5000sqft of solar panels to ensure an even more environmentally friendly way of working.”
These solar panels alone offer the potential to power the new Sandretto, granulators and a brand new Borche 80T injection moulding machine (which Knight is among the first UK companies to order).
This machine was chosen for its technical advantages/features, such as twin core pulling, and extremely low power requirement.
It will enable Knight to have increased flexibility with production on a machine size which has seen a significant increase in demand from both Knight’s regular and loyal customers and also a large number of new ones, who are all benefitting from the complete service Knight provide.
